Heading 1

''If you have more than you need, build a longer table not a higher fence''

Welcome to A Longer Table.

For us, the meaning of the above quote, is a philanthropic message that the way to care for the future world and all its inhabitants is to share, not just material things, but also all of our knowledge and resources for the benefit of everyone.
Alongside the growing awareness of how human activity is affecting climate change and our environment, there is also a growing understanding and desire to bring about change;
how do we begin to undo, and prevent further damage being done?
Some of the ways are to address how we produce, package and transport the foods and other products that we use in our daily lives.
We are a registered community interest company (SC659517) a ‘not for personal profit’ social enterprise aiming to reduce single use plastic packaging and food waste in our local area.
You can find us at 6 High Street, Kirriemuir, Angus DD8 4EY
A Longer Table is a zero plastic waste retail grocers shop selling grocery basics, such as cereals, grains, pasta, pulses, in season Scottish grown fresh vegetables, artisan breads and ecologically friendly household and personal care products. We aim to offer as many of the above as we can, as gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. Where possible we will give preference to local producers and suppliers.

Our intention is to keep our pricing as competitive as possible. This will help to include customers who may have previously believed that buying environmentally friendly goods was beyond their budget. The more successful we are the bigger bulk we can buy, and the more we can pass on cost savings to all our customers.
To enable accessibility for those who work out of town, once the shop is open, trading hours will be extended outside traditional 9am - 5pm retail times.
Profits from the shop will be used to benefit the wider community. While we believe the climate crisis is something which we can and should be doing our best to repair, we also believe that we need to sustain people and their well being, as much as the planet and our environment. Since relaxing of the covid regulations we have been able to open our originally proclaimed social/coffee area. so our future plans include a social area which can be used in collaboration with other community groups and for a variety of different purposes.
Please read our packaging and allergen statements before beginning to shop with us, so that you are confident that our policies match your needs.
Please continue to follow our Facebook page @alongertable, and our other social media links to keep up to date with our news, progress on the high street shop refit, and any new stock about to arrive.
